destinations

Thinking about a world family travel adventure but not sure where on earth to start? With the world as your oyster it can be mind-boggling to try to narrow down where you might want to start with family travel planning.

Have a read through our destinations below for inspiration – and find out exactly what we thought of them, where we stayed and what we spent.

Costa Rica

Delve into the world’s most wildlife-rich country, where you can swim in the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea all in one day! We LOVED our time in Costa Rica, especially the incredible wildlife spotting (including sloths and nesting turtles), adrenaline filled adventures (have a go at whitewater rafting or ziplining through the jungle) and chilled out beach life.

Mexico

Azure seas and dreamy beaches with tons of family fun on the Yucatan. Plus oodles of culture, ancient civilizations and Day of the Dead.

There’s a ton of things to do in Mexico City with kids (not as daunting as you might think!), and Oaxaca is an amazing place to revel in the Day of the Dead celebrations. Top it all off with some time on the stunning beaches and you’ve got the perfect family travel adventure!

Malaysia

A cultural melting pot offering amazing food, laidback beaches, spectacular temples and soaring city skylines.

We found that KL and Penang had so much fun  to offer. We also ticked off a massive bucketlist item with our trip to Borneo to explore the jungles and see some amazing animals in the wild.

Indonesia

Captivating, hectic and soulful Bali, with it’s lush green rice fields and glorious sunsets, and Komodo National Park, home of real dragons! We lived in Ubud, Bali while the boys attended international school and fell in love with this magical place.

And drifting through Komodo National Park on a liveaboard boat was definitely one of the highlights of all our travel adventures!

UK and Europe

It might be closer to home but it’s still got endless adventures to be had, from hiking in the Peak District to swimming in the Atlantic. We loved exploring the UK and Europe in our campervan and have lots of tips on the best family campsites and activities – from England, to Germany, France, Austria and beyond!
